The REAL Bionic Arm = Way Cool

    Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 06:26 PM [General]

Mail day is always a good day at Capcom. And since mail comes everyday, we're always getting cool things... Today, we got the Bionic Arm. It came in a crate with some mysterious Japanese writing (probably a warning of the pure awesome inside), and a dead give-a-way in english as it says "Bionic Arm" in big letters.

Marisol was kind enough to strap on this prop for some pics to show off how cool this thing is. It would have been cooler if I could have found the button for the lights. But there's no obvious switch on there that says "lights." Instead I spent a good five minutes pressing things that looked like they could be buttons... As I was looking, I realized just how much detail went into this piece of equipment. Every rivet, bolt, screw, the hosing... It's all hand painted down to the most minute detail. The arm is an exact match to the arm you'll be using when you pick up Bionic Commando.

    WINTER is HERE

Wednesday, December 3, 2008, 12:22 AM GMT [General]

After a busy couple of weeks at work, I was just starting to catch up... when I awoke this morning to a new view from my window...

    SNOW!

Driving my two sons and a neighbours son to school, we had anticipated problems because of road works, and so set off 15 minutes early.

We quickly found Windermere blocked with traffic, and so took a 2 mile detour - joining the A591 just where the temporary traffic lights were causing CHAOS!

Most of the drivers we encountered along the way had no confidence driving in the snow - which had fallen on frozen ground, and were driving too slow to be able to maintain control - with no impetus to carry them forwards, they slid from left to right as the wheels tried to gain purchase.

Once on the main road however, grip was not a problem - just drivers who were scared of the snow on the verges, who made for the centre of the road - as did those coming the other way! Simple physics show that two vehicles CANNOT occupy the same space - but it was entertaining whatching drivers play chicken, and see which one braked suddenly, or finally made use of the offside margins!

Returning back along the road to travel to work, the temporary lights proved to be a major restriction - for NO reason. They were situated on the approach to a mini roundabout, where there are two lanes. All that was required was to take the lights away, and allow two way traffic past the lights, using one of the spare lanes. I telephoned the police station - to no avail - they could not spare an officer to attend, and no, I could not do it myself! The queue stretched for FIVE miles, and a delivery driver later told me he was in it for two and a half hours!

Still the scenery was improved no end by the dusting of snow so I stopped and took a few pictures to share with you.

I hope that you all had a much easier time getting to work than some of the poor drivers stuck in that queue!

OBAMA: NO YOU DID NOT ASK ME TO COOK FOR THE WHITE HOUSE

Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 07:19 PM EST [General]

I HEARD ALL OF THAT BABY...

MICHELLE DEJA GETS MALIA AND SASHA

DJ AND HOOTIE STICK WITH OBAMA...

    'THAT MUCH TRUST...

DO WE DISCUSS OPENLY TERMS NOW OR SHOULD WE WAOIIT FOR LATER..

HELL YES I WILL COOK FOR THE WHITE HOUSE WHEN WE MOVE IN...

Chefs Dream Up White House Dinners for Obama

While President-elect Barack Obama fills his Cabinet, many foodies are wondering who will fill the ones in his kitchen.

By Tanya Bricking Leash for the Associated Press, photo by EMMANUEL DUNAND/AFP/Getty Images

Might the White House serve health-conscious fare from Chicago chef Charlie Trotter? Or could the Obamas embrace Mexican flavors of one of their favorite chefs, Rick Bayless?

"That's what people keep saying," Bayless says, though he adds that he has not been contacted by the Obamas.

Obama's transition team says it's much too soon to speculate about culinary changes at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And if history is any indication, the Obamas probably don't need to rush. The Clintons' chef, Walter Scheib, remained in the job into the current Bush administration. When he resigned in 2005, Laura Bush hired Cristeta Comerford, his deputy.

Still, it can be fun to dream, which is what eight chefs - some with ties to the Obamas - did when asked to cater a fictional inaugural dinner for the soon-to-be president and his wife.

    RAW

Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 07:10 PM EST [General]

Here is my report from last nights Raw.

dark match: Cryme Tyme d. Snisky & Johny whitesomething

Before the show there was a video showing WWE's impact on pop culture, They showed a clip of John Mccain and everybody booed, then they showed a clip of president Obama and he got a huge pop.

I will not spoil ECW for those who are going to watch it on sci-fi, but I will give you this hint, someone who is undefeated will finally lose.

Chris Jericho got the biggest heat all night long. Crowd was pretty over for Randy Ortan. Batista also got huge pops.

After Raw went off the air, we where expecting a triple threat match between Jericho/Cena/Batista as had been advertised locally, but it never happened. Instead Jericho came to the ring and started running his mouth, but then Batista came out and flattend him with a spinebuster followed by a Batist Bomb.

Batist then said that it was great to be home, and he he used to be a bouncer just two blocks away. finally he asked us to please support the wizards, but I shouted back "Awe come on dave, thats asking too much!"

    Never Stop Caring

    Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 06:09 PM [General]

    Never stop caring
about the little things in life,
    never stop dreaming
    or give in to strife.

    Never stop building bridges
    that lead to promising tomorrows,
    never stop trying
    or give in to sorrows.

    Never stop smiling
and looking forward to each new day,
But most of all my friend...
never stop shining in you own special way.

Never forget that all storms can clear,
the grayest sky can turn pure blue.
    Remember, brighter tomorrows are near...
And of course, I'm always here for you

When I recovered around 10:30 or so the placed was packed Meth and Red hit the stage........ Rockin hits from the past to the present it was great (thanks Juan) ...... It was only one problem this weird smell filled the room as the started to perform (maybe it was a fog machine malfunction..... maybe not.....)

    Happy 27th Birthday, Britney! (A Fan's Retrospective & Celebration)

Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 07:05 PM EST [General]

Hey guys! How is everybody today? :)

I know I've been doing a lot of posting here on my blog on other topics aside from wrestling, but I really wanted you guys to see this. So, here it goes...

I wanted to take this time to speak on a topic that's very close to my heart - my years as a fan of the lady making her HIGHLY anticipated return to the world of music today, Ms. Britney Jean Spears. This is a retrospective of not just how much of an influence she has had on my life over the many years that I've supported her as a fan, but, how I've gained a new outlook on life & everything it has to offer as well.

Looking back over the 10+ years that Britney has been in the industry, it's certainly been a ride of ups, downs, & in betweens for her & her fans (especially for those of you who've followed her as long as I've have). Today, w/ her 27th birthday & the release of her 6th studio album, Circus, I say that it has been well worth all the blood, sweat, tears, hard work, suffering, heartache, & rough times. She's back, better & as hot as ever! I seriously don't think the world knows what's about to hit it w/ her return to the music world. She's already proven the doubters, haters, & naysayers wrong w/ all of her success & I see that continuing for many, many years to come.

I personally feel that Britney is a TRUE testament to the fact that you can & will overcome everything that's put in your path if you don't give up, be strong & persevere, and strive for what makes you happy, what makes you YOU - all in spite of what others may do, say, or think about you. If you live by that motto, then you can't go wrong. This is not only a motto I apply for being a fan of Britney's, but one that I also apply to my own life. For the longest time, I always worried of what others thought of me, the things they said to me, & overall, what kind of person I was in their eyes. It's safe to say that NOW, that has all changed & I think it came when I took my week's vacation about 4 weeks back. Having the time to relax & be by myself, it really gave me a chance to think about my life thus far and if I was really truly happy w/ where I was at this point. During that time, I reconsidered where I wanted to go w/ my life & I took every aspect of it into consideration and now, I'm at a place in my life where I'm happy & content w/ the direction my life is headed in now and well on into the future. What that may hold for me, I don't know, but I'm willing to say that I'm looking forward to what it has to bring.

With that being said, I apply this to Britney & her fans. From the fans like myself that I've met over the years, it's very interesting to find out that, like me, they were unhappy for the longest time w/ their lives & the directions they were going in. That unhappiness, I feel, ended when just 10 years ago (this past January being the anniversary), a relatively new unknown to the world of music was introduced to us & to the public. That relatively new unknown? Ms. Britney Spears. What would happen from that day forward is now the stuff of legend & up until now, in my honest opinion, has come full circle and will only further cement Britney's status as a true Superstar in both the world of music & the world we live in today. For 10+ years now, we've literally seen Britney grow up from a hot up & coming newcomer to being, honestly, the biggest & most successful female artist/entertainer in the world.

For me, I feel a personal tie to Britney because of a key situation that was a HUGE wake up call to how, even if we don't always think so, valuable & meaningful our lives really are. This situation forever changed my outlook on life & the influence that Britney would have on my life from that point in time. This happened about 8 years ago (if my memory serves me correctly, that is) and, till this very day, remains very much a part of my life. At the time, I was in HS about ready to graduate, I had a part-time job @ The Andersons (my current employer) which was going anything less than smooth, and I was at odds w/ my mom & dad over different things - my job & school included.

To bring you guys up to speed, I deal w/ (& have dealt w/) mild to severe depression all of my life, due to the fact that I came from a broken family in which I was abused by my biological (birth) parents. I was taken from them & placed in foster care till I was 6, which is when my mom & dad that I have now adopted me.

    Back to it...

I came home one day after getting off of both school & work, neither of which had gone very well (and hadn't been for a few weeks), and because of it, I got into an argument w/ my parents about school & work not being satisfactory. All the animosity between us continued to build up & build up and it got to the point where I really couldn't tolerate another argument w/ my mom & dad. That, in turn, had me on the verge of me wanting to take my own life & just end the misery that I was going through. I was considering walking from my house down to the bridge near my old elementary school and leaping from there. I just didn't feel that my life was worth living anymore and that nobody would miss me if I was dead & gone. This is where Britney comes into the equation... My radio had been on, I had a 2-In-1 clock radio @ the time, and I was gonna seriously end it all. Before that could happen, however, Britney's 2nd single (from ...BOMT), Sometimes came on my radio and that's when it happened. I don't know what triggered this reaction from me, but I actually collected myself & sat back down on my bed and just listened to it... to Britney's voice... to the lyrics of the song. After the song was over, something caused me to break down & cry. I cried for what had to be 15-20 minutes, the song had overcome me & I couldn't help but think 'Why? Why do I want to end my life? It's not really THAT bad, is it?' From that day forward, I never thought of Britney the same again. I saw her as a voice of reason, a voice of influence, a beautiful, angelic voice that could calm me down & bring me back to my senses. Since that time all those years ago, Britney has been my mainstay #1 as my personal favorite female celebrity. Sure, I have other favorites now as well, but B has always been my girl - always has, always will be. To this day as well, I say Brit has BY FAR, the BEST & MOST loyal fans on the planet of any celebrity out there.

Since that time has passed, I've grown to love & support B more & more w/ each passing day. It's that situation that forever changed my life & the path it has taken up until now. I'll continue from here on out to give Brit all of my love & support, just as I have these past 10+ years that she's been a star. I hope to one day be able to tell my kids (if I have any by then :p) about my days as a fan of the world's biggest & brightest star.

That is the end of my piece, I hope I've gotten through to the people who are fans of Britney & have made clear my intent of showing my love & support to B herself. In ending, I'm leaving the piece w/ a song that I feel (and I'm sure many, many of her other fans) best describes how I feel about Britney and perfectly puts into perspective how far she's come since that day 10 years ago and the influence she's had on not only her fans & admirers, but on the population of the world as a whole. I hope you guys enjoy this & feel free to pass it on to others you think might be interested.

My message to B... HAPPY 27TH BRIT, WE'RE REALLY PROUD OF YOU. BEST OF LUCK WITH 'CIRCUS' & CONTINUED SUCCESS INTO THE FUTURE. MAY YOUR DAY BE ONE OF JOY, PEACE, & HAPPINESS. :)

    Song: Time
    Artist: Backstreet Boys

    I know that I, I can't believe
Just what the past has brought me
To the man I wanna be
I know that we have had some times
That we can't forget the struggle
Cause we have so far to go

    I know we've changed but
    Change can be so good
    So let's not forget why
    It's understood that

    [Chorus:]
Time, look where we are and what we've been through
    Time, sharing our dreams
Time, goes on and on everyday, baby
    Time is what it is
Come what may (come what may)

I remember when, mom used to say
    That things are getting better
And you'll soon be on your way
    Remember those days
When we would sing at the drop of a dime (Oooh)
Way back when nothing mattered (Mmm, mm, mm)

    I know we've changed, but
    Change can be so good
Oh so let's not forget why it's understood that

    [Chorus:]
Time, look where we are and what we've been through
    (look where we are)
Time, sharing our dreams (dreams, dreams, dreams, oh yeah)
Time, (goes on and on) goes on and on everyday (everyday)
Time is what it is (Oh)
Come what may (come what may)

    [Bridge:]
So here we are (here we are)
    And we'll always stay together
And through it all you know we owe it all to you, you, you , you
    Time goes on and on

    [Chorus:]
Time (Time), look where we are and what we've been through
    Time, sharing our dreams
Time, (goes on and on) goes on and on everyday (everyday)
Time is what it is (Time is what is it)

Time (Time), look where we are and what we've been through
Time (Time), sharing our dreams (sharing our dreams)
Time, (goes on and on) goes on and on everyday
Time is what it is, Come what may

Time, goes on and on everyday, Time is what it is
    Come what may
    Come what may
